FAo GLOSLAN regsitration

Colombo, Sri Lanka | 10 November

Biogenic Soil Sense proudly announces its successful registration with the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSLAN) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening soil health diagnostics and sustainable agriculture in Sri Lanka, while aligning our work with internationally recognized soil standards.

What is GLOSLAN?

GLOSLAN is a global network established by FAO under the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) to improve the quality, comparability, and reliability of soil analytical data worldwide. The network supports harmonized soil testing methods, capacity building, and quality assurance across national and regional soil laboratories, enabling better soil management decisions at farm, national, and global levels.

Sri Lanka’s Representation in a Global Network

With this registration, Biogenic Soil Sense is now recognized as one of the registered soil laboratories in Sri Lanka under FAO–GLOSLAN. This recognition reflects our commitment to scientific rigor, transparency, and continuous improvement in soil analysis.

Our laboratory services, data handling practices, and advisory outputs are being developed in line with FAO’s global soil standards, contributing to evidence-based decision-making in agriculture and environmental management.

Alignment with the Global Soil Partnership (GSP)

From 10 November onward, Biogenic Soil Sense formally commits to keeping all its soil analytical, advisory, and capacity-building activities fully aligned with the principles and objectives of FAO’s Global Soil Partnership (GSP).

This alignment emphasizes:
• Sustainable soil management
• Improved soil data quality and harmonization
• Reduced environmental impact from excessive fertilizer use
• Enhanced food security and farmer profitability
• Long-term resilience of agricultural systems

Bridging Global Science with Local Agriculture

At Biogenic Soil Sense, our mission is to connect global soil science with local farming realities. By integrating advanced soil diagnostics, digital tools, and FAO-aligned methodologies, we aim to support:
• Farmers in optimizing fertilizer inputs
• Policymakers in making data-driven decisions
• Researchers and institutions in advancing soil health knowledge

Looking Ahead

Our inclusion in FAO’s GLOSLAN strengthens Sri Lanka’s participation in the global soil science community and reinforces our role as a trusted partner in sustainable agriculture. We remain committed to collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence as we work toward healthier soils and a more sustainable food system.

Healthy soils today for food security tomorrow.
