Tea Smallholder Farmer Awareness Programme & Rapid Soil Testing Demonstration

Biogenic Soil Sense was honoured to participate in a Tea Smallholder Farmer Awareness Programme and Rapid Soil Testing Demonstration held on 18 July 2026, bringing together tea smallholders to promote scientific soil management and sustainable tea cultivation.

The programme was organized by MILCOOP under the guidance of Mr. Lanka Ranasinghe and Dr. Geoff Dean (Senior Soil Scientist).

The event commenced with the welcome address by Mr. Lanka Ranasinghe, followed by an introduction to Rapid Soil Intelligence by the Biogenic Soil Sense team.

A valuable technical session was delivered by Prof. Rajika Amarasinghe, Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, on the importance of soil science, soil classification, and nutrient management for improving tea productivity.

The programme concluded with a comprehensive field demonstration conducted by the Biogenic Soil Sense team, covering:
✅ Representative soil sample collection
✅ Sample preparation and processing
✅ On-field rapid soil testing using advanced NIR technology
✅ Soil report generation
✅ Interpretation of soil results
✅ Field-specific nutrient and fertilizer recommendations

Biogenic Soil Sense was represented by:
