Contributing to the Future of Agricultural Education – Stakeholder Consultation at University of Ruhuna

Dr. Thulitha Ranwala, CEO of Biogenic Soil Sense, and Miss Chathuri Anjana (Project Head ) recently participated in the Stakeholder Consultation Workshop organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, held on 26th February 2026 at Horizon Campus, Malambe.

The workshop was conducted as part of a comprehensive curriculum review process aimed at enhancing and modernizing the Faculty’s undergraduate degree programs, including:
• BSc in Agricultural Resource Management and Technology (ARMT)
• BSc in Agribusiness Management (ABM)
• BSc in Green Technology (GT)

This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to aligning academic programs with evolving global trends, technological advancements, market dynamics, and workforce demands in the agricultural sector.

During the consultation, Dr. Ranwala contributed industry perspectives on:
• Precision agriculture and rapid diagnostic technologies
• On-field soil and leaf nutrient assessment
• Data-driven fertilizer management
• Sustainable and climate-smart farming practices
• Enhancing graduate employability through practical exposure

As Sri Lanka transitions toward modern, technology-integrated agriculture, collaboration between academia and industry becomes increasingly essential. The discussions emphasized the importance of equipping future graduates with competencies in digital agriculture, nutrient intelligence, sustainability metrics, and innovation-driven agribusiness models.
