Expanding Our Analysis Programme from Paddy to Tea Sector – Rathnapura District
Up to now, Biogenic Soil Sense has been actively conducting its field-based soil and paddy leaf analysis programme across different regions in Sri Lanka. Through this work, we have been building a strong foundation for data-driven nutrient management in agriculture.
As the next step, we are now expanding this programme to the tea sector, beginning with field activities in Rathnapura disctrict.
This expansion marks an important milestone in our journey. By introducing tea leaf and soil analysis using NIR technology, we aim to support tea growers with accurate insights into plant nutrition and soil fertility, helping them make more informed fertilizer decisions. In Rathnapura – Elapatha, our team is currently working closely with farmers to collect tea leaf and soil samples under real field conditions. Each sampling location adds valuable data while also helping to increase awareness about the importance of soil testing and balanced nutrient management in tea cultivation.
This transition from paddy-focused work to including tea reflects our broader vision of supporting multiple crop sectors through science-based, practical solutions.
Step by step, we are moving towards a more informed and sustainable agricultural system in Sri Lanka.
Know your soil. Empower your decisions. Build sustainable agriculture
