Taking Soil Science Directly to Smallholder Tea Farmers of Morawaka and Deniyaya

Today, Biogenic Soil Sense joined an on-field workshop with nearly 50 smallholder tea farmers from Morawaka and Deniyaya, bringing practical soil science, rapid nutrient diagnostics, and better fertilizer decision-making directly to the farming community.

The programme was organized with the support of the MILCOOP organization, Mr. Lanka, Dr. Geoff Dean, and Jo Dean.

Representing Biogenic Soil Sense, Dr. Thulitha Ranwala, Agronomist Mr. Tharinda, and Chathuka participated in the field programme. Strengthening the academic and scientific collaboration, Prof. Rajika Amarasinghe from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, also participated, representing expertise in soil science.

The workshop created an important opportunity to engage directly with tea smallholders, discuss their real field-level challenges, and demonstrate how modern soil testing and nutrient intelligence can support more precise fertilizer decisions.

Our vision goes beyond simply issuing a soil test report. We aim to help each farmer understand their soil, monitor its condition over time, and make better nutrient-management decisions based on scientific evidence.

Our sincere appreciation goes to everyone who organized and supported this valuable farmer-focused initiative and to all the tea growers who actively participated.

අද දින මොරවක සහ දෙනියාය ප්‍රදේශවල කුඩා තේ වතු හිමියන් 50කට ආසන්න පිරිසකගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන්, ක්ෂේත්‍රමය දැනුවත් කිරීමේ සහ ප්‍රායෝගික වැඩමුළුවක් සාර්ථකව පැවැත්විණි.

මෙම වැඩසටහන MILCOOP සංවිධානයේ සහයෝගයෙන්, Lanka මහතා, Dr. Geoff Dean සහ Jo Dean විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලදී.

Biogenic Soil Sense නියෝජනය කරමින් වෛද්‍ය තුලිත රණවල, කෘෂි විද්‍යාඥ තාරින්ද සහ චතුක මෙම වැඩසටහනට සහභාගී වූ අතර, අපගේ විද්‍යාත්මක සහයෝගීතාව තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කරමින් රුහුණ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කෘෂිකර්ම පීඨයේ පාංශු විද්‍යා ක්ෂේත්‍රය නියෝජනය කරමින් මහාචාර්ය රජිකා අමරසිංහ ද සහභාගී විය.

තේ ගොවීන් සමඟ ඔවුන්ගේ සැබෑ ක්ෂේත්‍ර ගැටලු පිළිබඳව සෘජුව සාකච්ඡා කරමින්, නවීන පාංශු පරීක්ෂණ, පෝෂක තත්ත්වය හඳුනාගැනීම සහ දත්ත මත පදනම් වූ නිවැරදි පොහොර කළමනාකරණය පිළිබඳ දැනුම ගොවිබිමටම ගෙන යාමට මෙය වටිනා අවස්ථාවක් විය.

අපගේ අරමුණ පාංශු පරීක්ෂණ වාර්තාවක් ලබාදීමෙන් පමණක් නතර වන්නේ නැහැ. සෑම ගොවියෙකුටම තම පසේ තත්ත්වය හඳුනාගෙන, කාලයත් සමඟ එහි වෙනස්වීම් නිරීක්ෂණය කරමින්, විද්‍යාත්මක දත්ත මත නිවැරදි පෝෂක හා පොහොර තීරණ ගැනීමට හැකි කිරීමයි අපගේ ඉලක්කය.

මෙම වැඩසටහන සාර්ථක කරගැනීමට සහය වූ සියලු දෙනාටත්, උනන්දුවෙන් සහභාගී වූ තේ ගොවි මහත්ම මහත්මීන්ටත් අපගේ හෘදයාංගම ස්තුතිය.
