Biogenic Soil Sense Engages Tea Plantation Stakeholders on Rapid Soil Intelligence and Precision Nutrient Management
18 July 2026
Following a successful Tea Smallholder Farmer Awareness Programme, Biogenic Soil Sense conducted an interactive stakeholder discussion with representatives from Sri Lanka’s tea plantation sector to explore the future of rapid soil diagnostics and precision nutrient management.
The discussion brought together representatives from several leading tea estates and plantation organizations, including:
- Ahinsa Tea
- ensalwaththa Estate – Mathurata Plantations
- Morawaka Tea Estate
- Representatives from approximately five medium-scale tea plantations
The session provided a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge and discussing current challenges in soil fertility management, fertilizer optimization, and sustainable tea production.
During the discussion, the Biogenic Soil Sense team introduced its Rapid Soil Intelligence platform, demonstrating how advanced Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, GPS-tagged soil sampling, digital soil health profiling, and field-specific nutrient recommendations can support informed fertilizer decisions and improve plantation productivity.
Participants actively shared their experiences and explored practical applications of rapid soil testing within commercial tea plantations. The interactive nature of the discussion highlighted the industry’s growing interest in adopting science-based technologies to improve soil health, optimize fertilizer use, reduce unnecessary input costs, and strengthen long-term sustainability.
The event also provided an excellent opportunity to establish new partnerships and identify future collaborative initiatives that will support Sri Lanka’s tea sector through innovative soil intelligence solutions.
Biogenic Soil Sense sincerely thanks all participating plantation representatives and stakeholders for their valuable contributions and looks forward to working together to advance precision agriculture across Sri Lanka’s tea industry.
